History

In 1992 a needs analysis was undertaken by community members, the Methodist Mission, St Johns and Raumanga Church.

A need for a semi-professional organisation with an emphasis on education, prevention, supports and advocacy was identified.

The Community House was established in 1993 in response to these needs and governed by members from the St Johns Cooperating Parish, Methodist Mission and the Community.

One Double Five Whare Roopu Community House Trust was incorporated on the 21st September 1999.

Welcome to the Whare

The Trust has a strong community development and social service focus. Within we have 3 separate divisions, the Whare (main office), the Youth Program and the Law Centre.

The Whare offers support in areas such as funding, setting up new projects, advocacy and counselling. We also have a cyberwhare where public can drop in and use the computers for free.

Hangi Steamer - Can cook up to 300 hangi’s at a time

Cameras - 2x cameras, extras microphone packs, tripods and batteries are available on request

Waka's - 10x single men kayaks, 2x 6man waka, 1x 2man waka
